Nothing on TV?: Sunday, June 9

Although I didn’t watch this on Sunday, I’ve been meaning to post it because it’s the awesomist.

The Quantum Activist

There is a revolution going on in science. A genuine paradigm shift. While mainstream science remains materialist, a substantial number of scientists are supporting and developing a paradigm based on the primacy of consciousness. Amit Goswami, Ph.D., a pioneer of this revolutionary new perspective within science, shares with us his vision of the unlimited potential of consciousness as the ground of all being, and how this revelation can actually help us to live better. The Quantum Activist tells the story of a man who challenges us to rethink our very notions of existence and reality, with a force and scope not felt since Einstein. This film bridges the gap between God and Science. The work of Goswami, with stunning precision and without straying from the rigors of quantum mechanics, reveals the overarching unity inherent in the worlds major religions and mystical traditions. Meet the man behind the message as Dr. Goswami tells how he moved away from the religious teachings of his childhood, to seek his path in nuclear and theoretical quantum physics, and how he has come full circle, through quantum insight, back to the very religious axioms offered as a youth. Breaking Free, Episode 1

The World According to Monsanto
If you know nothing or next to nothing about Monsanto, this is the film to watch. It’s staggering.

Youtube description: There’s nothing they are leaving untouched: the mustard, the okra, the bringe oil, the rice, the cauliflower. Once they have established the norm: that seed can be owned as their property, royalties can be collected. We will depend on them for every seed we grow of every crop we grow. If they control seed, they control food, they know it — it’s strategic. It’s more powerful than bombs. It’s more powerful than guns. This is the best way to control the populations of the world. The story starts in the White House, where Monsanto often got its way by exerting disproportionate influence over policymakers via the “revolving door”. One example is Michael Taylor, who worked for Monsanto as an attorney before being appointed as deputy commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1991. While at the FDA, the authority that deals with all US food approvals, Taylor made crucial decisions that led to the approval of GE foods and crops. Then he returned to Monsanto, becoming the company’s vice president for public policy.

Thanks to these intimate links between Monsanto and government agencies, the US adopted GE foods and crops without proper testing, without consumer labeling and in spite of serious questions hanging over their safety. Not coincidentally, Monsanto supplies 90 percent of the GE seeds used by the US market. Monsanto’s long arm stretched so far that, in the early nineties, the US Food and Drugs Agency even ignored warnings of their own scientists, who were cautioning that GE crops could cause negative health effects. Other tactics the company uses to stifle concerns about their products include misleading advertising, bribery and concealing scientific evidence.

Nothing on TV?: June 5, 2013

I am going to start a new feature on the blog! Everyday I am going to post the videos that my husband and I watch in the evenings. Instead of watching primetime TV (which I used to do all the time), we now fill our evenings with informative, weird, fun and out-there nonfiction videos, movies and documentaries. Of course, sometimes the Bruins, Sox or the Celtics take precedent, but that’s cool because, hey, we live in the best sports town in ‘Merica and sometimes you gotta watch the boys.

Here were last nights selections! Right now it will be a lot of permaculture selections, as I have to (and want to!) watch these for the permaculture course I am taking in August. These are both fine to watch around children, by the way.

The Cosmic Giggle (this was AWESOME)

The Cosmic Giggle is an experimental documentary film that explores the human energy field’s dynamic relationship with our environment. Naturally as human beings, we are connected to a vast network of fluid information inherent to the world around us. When we are children, we are open to this field through simple innocent observance, but because of our collective evolution towards a dominating and fixated worldview, this perception becomes veiled. This film reveals how this process takes place and provides keys for returning to a more primal and authentic experience of our reality.

Temperate Permaculture Strategies, Parts 1-8

Permaculture in cool climates with Bill Mollison (he’s one of the founders of the idea of permaculture)

We are all ONE

Quantum mechanics and super string theory now tell us we are and this whole world is all pure consciousness, just a function of the wave property of consciousness. Our thoughts and intentions create this world. Awaken your consciousness, change the world. If you don’t understand what that means, take a few minutes everyday to sit with your thoughts and think about who you are, why you’re here, what you’re doing and what it all means. You will only understand when you start being conscious of your consciousness. Being self-aware is the first step to understanding and liberation.

What is happening and why it’s happening now

These short videos express EXACTLY how I feel and what I am trying to communicate in my blog. It’s religion, science, spirituality, humanity and love all wrapped up into what it means to be alive right now. If all is one and one is all, WE ARE  CREATORS AND WE SHAPE REALITY. It’s time we realized it. Enjoy!

Our quantum world, Part I (please don’t not open this post because it has the word quantum in it!)

The term “quantum” didn’t really make sense to me until the last year or so. I’ve been fascinated with quantum mechanics for a long time, but I didn’t really get why it was even called that. And then there was the show “Quantum Leap” which was about time travel and that really didn’t make it any clearer.

But something clicked for me when I was reading the biography Einstein by Walter Isaacson. Einstein helped discover the quantum nature of light. Basically, light is emitted in packets that are an exact value. No more, no less. It’s like looking at a jelly bean and knowing you can’t break the jelly bean into anymore pieces. That is the smallest amount of jelly bean you can have. There is no value between it and nothing. And no value between one jelly bean and two jelly beans. Quantized things jump from one state or amount to another, with no, or very little in between. Think about when we all learned about electrons back in middle school. Electrons orbit the nucleus of an atom, but they do at set distances from the nucleus. They can jump from one distance to another, but they can’t orbit anywhere in between those set distances. And when they go to an energy state that is lower than the one they are in, they emit energy in specific quantities (hence the word quantum).

Quantum mechanics is full of crazy stuff. Like definitive proof that things only appear like they do when we’re looking at them (when observed, particles collapse from a wave of possibilities into one possibility, the one you’re witnessing). And demonstrating how something we do in the present affects something that happens in the future. Or an action on a particle will affect another particle millions of light years away instantaneously (or what Einstein called “spooky action at a distance” and was thought impossible b/c it means something is traveling faster than the speed of light).

These results sound impossible, but the effects have been replicated again and again and again. So far, every action predicted by quantum physics that has been able to be set up experimentally has been proven correct. It’s the most accurate theory physics has ever seen.

Binary code is based on the same principle. You either have a 1 or a 0, nothing in between. Two choices, on or off. No sort-of-on or sort-of-off. Either the switch is flipped or it’s not. And when a switch is flipped, it means something happens. And maybe it takes many, many switches flipping to the 1 or the 0 position for another, larger level switch to flip. And so on. (Keep this in mind for a fun thought experiment in Part II!)

Most of you probably think that quantum physics has nothing to do with you. Scientists hadn’t been able to extrapolate quantum physics to apply to large, real world motion….until now.

Published in Science, Quantum Correlation Between Distant Diamonds, takes the idea of quantum entanglement that has been proven again and again and demonstrates the same effect on two millimeter sized diamonds sitting 15 cm apart. In other words, quantum effects demonstrated at the macro level, or the realm of the naked eye.

Scientists at Rice University have published an amazing finding in the journal Nature Physics. It’s a complicated study, but it boils down to the fact that many things (in this case, electron-hole pairs created in a semiconductor) have been shown to act in coordination with each other all at once. Basically, a light is shined on a substance, and instead of emitting light randomly as it is absorbed and released by electrons, when the light is intense enough, it causes the electrons to sort of all line up together, spontaneously, and emit all their light at once. I like to think of this is it reaching “critical mass.” Once a certain thresh hold is reached, the flood gates let go. This is quantized because if you are looking at it like a time line, you have no light emittance…no light emittance…no light emittance and then BAM you have it all emitted at once. No in-between. Quantized.

Now that we have seen that quantum effects can be observed at the macro level, and that mass cooperation of seemingly disparate bodies can create a critical mass, we are prepared to examine how this affects us.

Critical mass is the idea that there is a tipping point—that if you get enough of a group of animals, people, or things, to take on or demonstrate an attribute, then that attribute will spread to the rest of the population almost instantaneously. You go from a critical mass of people doing something, to everyone doing it. Quantized.

A great examples of critical mass effects is the “10oth Monkey Effect.” In this article by Own Waters, he describes this:

The Hundredth Monkey Effect was first introduced by biologist Lyall Watson in his 1980 book, ‘Lifetide.’ He reported that Japanese primatologists, who were studying Macaques monkeys in the wild in the 1950s, had stumbled upon a surprising phenomenon.

The Japanese monkey, Macaca fuscata, had been observed in the wild for a period of over 30 years. In 1952, on the island of Koshima, scientists were providing monkeys with sweet potatoes dropped in the sand. The monkeys liked the taste of the raw sweet potatoes, but they found the dirt unpleasant.

An 18 month old female named Imo found she could solve the problem by washing the potatoes in a nearby stream. She taught this trick to her mother. Her playmates also learned this new way and they taught their mothers too. This cultural innovation was gradually picked up by various monkeys before the eyes of the scientists. Between 1952 and 1958 all the young monkeys learned to wash the sandy sweet potatoes to make them more palatable. Only the adults who imitated their children learned this social improvement. Other adults kept eating the dirty sweet potatoes.

Then something startling took place. In the autumn of 1958, a certain number of Koshima monkeys were washing sweet potatoes — the exact number is not known. Let us suppose that when the sun rose one morning there were 99 monkeys on Koshima Island who had learned to wash their sweet potatoes. Let’s further suppose that later that morning, the hundredth monkey learned to wash potatoes.

Then it happened! By that evening almost everyone in the tribe was washing sweet potatoes before eating them. The added energy of this hundredth monkey somehow created an ideological breakthrough!

A most surprising thing observed by these scientists was that the habit of washing sweet potatoes then jumped over the sea –Colonies of monkeys on other islands and the mainland troop of monkeys at Takasakiyama began washing their sweet potatoes. Thus, when a certain critical number achieves an awareness, this new awareness may be communicated from mind to mind.

To describe this in a “quantum way” would be to say that when a certain switch is flipped from on to off (100th monkey), this floods the consciousness grid of the planet (because we are all connected, all made of the same stuff) with the idea of washing sweet potatoes and it is suddenly available to everyone all at once. When only a few monkeys are washing potatoes, the idea is literally contained in a smaller area (as energy), but when a tipping point happens, the info jumps from a small area, to the next largest area and is literally available to more people’s consciousness.

I’m gonna go ahead an post this as Part 1 of a series of posts on quantum effects. It’s a big honkin’ subject that I know probably bores a lot of people, but it’s imperative if you want to understand the way the world is changing. And I firmly believe the changes are for the good.

Birthday wishes

It was my birthday yesterday. One of my oldest and dearest friends gave me an amazing gift. It’s a journal. She saw the cover art and thought it was cool. And then she saw it was a journal and she thought oh even better, Kim probably needs a journal. Then she turned it over. This is what it said:

“The covers of the 12 blank journals in the Medicine Wheel series present an astrology of the earth taught by the renowned Native American Teacher Sun Bear.
The Rest and Cleansing Moon: January 20–Feb 18
Animal: Otter
Plant: Quaking Aspen
Mineral: Silver
Color: Silver
Element: Air (Butterfly Clan)

People born under this moon have the capacity to be extremely psychic and visionary as well as highly intellectual. They are always searching both philosophically and concretely for ways to help others. Otter people truly like others and make good, trustworthy friends. People of this moon love to talk, debate, and romantic pursuits, and excel at all three. Otter people need to remember to listen to their intuition. If they do, they are powerful dreamers who have the capacity to turn their dreams into reality.”

When I read it, tears came to my eyes. If my dreams can be made into realities, here are my birthday wishes. Will you help me realize them?

I wish that people would wake up, look at themselves, I mean really examine themselves, and figure out what their pain points are, what their strengths are, why your past has made you what you are, and understand how that information can and does affect your life every day.

I wish that people would forgive those that have wronged them.

I wish that money and material shit would have no relevance in anyone’s minds.

I wish that every person on this Earth would be able to appreciate its beauty because all of their needs are met and they no longer have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

I wish that everyone would realize their worth and potential as humans. I wish more people would listen to their intuition instead of social constructs telling them what they are “supposed” to do, what they are supposed to be, and how they are supposed to live.

I wish people would stop listening to the fear the mainstream media spreads, and instead find news stories that inspire you to do something.

I wish people would be honest—with themselves and their loved ones.

I wish the horrifying game of the monetary system would be ended once and for all, so that we can finally understand who we are, how powerful we are, and that we can heal this Earth and ourselves.

I wish for you all to love yourselves and love each other.

I wish for peace for the human family.

Cymatics (how sound manipulates matter) or why love?

(I said in my last post that I would be posting next about how problems create jobs – I spoke too soon. These posts sort of come organically as I feel inspired to write about the topics, so that one will come a little later).

My last post implored you to be happy. And I told you that I feel like I’m one of the happiest people I know. And I mentioned my job as one the things I feel I have been able to bring into being by making the right choices, but I should clarify–anything economic-related that I may have referred to in the last post (job, and in the same token education), I do NOT believe was simply the fact of me wanting them and making good decisions that I have those. Some of that is due to chance – being born into the socioeconomic status that I was. Please don’t waste that chance if you have it. But I do realize no one can just make themselves happy if they don’t have enough to eat or pay rent.

[But so many don’t, and that’s why I promote an idea I’ll call “all things being equal, what can you do with your life?” How do we get them equal? Bring on the logical idea of creating an actual, sustainable system based on the idea that we can ALL benefit from the our technology and give everyone an extremely high standard of life.]

So the third question, the one about love, that I have come to ask myself as I live my life- that question has only entered my thinking as recently as maybe last summer. I am going to tell you the origins of it, and don’t laugh! Basically I read anything I an get my hands on about extra terrestrial stuff, I love Ancient Aliens on the History Channel, and I am pretty convinced they are here and have been for a long time, but whatevs. We definitely don’t have to agree on that. But what I read this summer in Family of Light by Barbara Marciniak changed my life, even if it didn’t convince me of the origins of the book (which was that it’s channeled words were from an alien race called the Pleiadians). I’m not sure I buy that, but the message that was delivered was beautiful. It said that the creational energy that brought our universe into being was love. And that love was the life sustaining force in the world. And it gave a scientific reason for this – and that is that love is a frequency.

Our bodies are full of energy. When our neurons fire, when we move, when all the electrons in all the atoms of our bodies are moving, when we digest food, all of this creates energy. Our moods create energy. We, as biological entities, give off electromagnetic frequencies. It’s just in the nature of organic matter. It’s always changing, moving, growing. Plus, we speak. We actually produce sound frequencies that propagate out into space.

And this is what waves (specifically sound waves in this case) do when they hit matter. This video shows a sound plate with sand on it as higher and higher frequencies are sent thru the plate. (This is a really really cool video. Please watch this one!)

As the frequency waves get higher, this causes matter to corral according to the interference pattern of the waves, which get more and more complicated. There are many other videos of other substances being manipulated. The range of diversity of the way matter acts depending on the notes, the vibration, be it liquid, plastic, or sand, is really cool, and it follows very familiar patterns – the patterns of life. Check out this video here about the Ascient Solfeggio frequencies, frequencies used in ancient Gregorian chants. (It starts a little slow, skip to :30 seconds). At 1:30 there is an amazing sequence where it shows how these frequencies relate to the Fiboncacci sequence as the building blocks of life.

What these videos prove is that the frequencies we give off literally affect the world around us. Think of your attitude. Think of the words you speak to people and how you speak them. Think of your body language. Think if you are smiling or not. All of these things add up to the electromagnetic frequencies that are eminating from you. And these frequencies will bounce around and hit other frequencies out in the world and create patterns. If you give off the frequencies of fear, pain and anger, those will propagate out into space and hit other waves of the same frequency (notice how negative people flock together?) and come back to you. You will be a node in that interference pattern created with those negative frequencies. Fear, pain and anger will continue to surround you.

But if you do the opposite and try to have the frequency of love eminating from you, you will draw the frequency of love to you.

The way I think of it is I try to hold the idea of doing everything from a place of love and then visualizing projecting that out into space. (It has been proven that if you visualize something, your brain actually can’t tell the difference between really doing it, and imagining doing it.)

If you try to always keep love coming from you, you will find that you can’t really do things that have bad intentions, and you will never “feel dumb.” And it won’t feel like you are being forced to “be good.” It won’t be like obeying a set of rules that a religion has laid out for you. It will be coming from you, organically, and will make you the one in charge, the one in power.

I don’t think being able to project love is easy. You basically have to work through all the negative stuff in your life, your heart, your relationships. That takes a lot of work. You need to get to the point where you feel you can forgive everyone that has wronged you. And by forgive, I really just mean let whatever it is your mad about, go. Just let it go. Harboring bad feelings and feelings of revenge and fear are the worst things you can do when you are trying to be happy.

I have had a fairly easy road to being able to “send out a frequency of love.” I know many people can’t say the same. A lot of people experience horrible pain, poverty, loss and abuse. What I hope by sharing this philosophy is that enough people will be sending out the frequency of love that it will change the nature of things and people won’t have to suffer like they do now.

And on top of that, if you want to change the behaviors of people, you have to change what the system reinforces. People will do whatever the system needs them to do to survive. And in the case of our current economic situation where the greediest, least empathetic people are praised and given million dollar bonuses, ethics, morality and love get thrown right out the window.

Systems are the secret

My readers. I am not writing these posts so to show you I’m right or that these ideas are right because I say so. I don’t think I am right because I am me. Instead, I think I have gathered enough evidence to convince me of certain truths; truths that if they are not brought to light and dealt with are going to destroy us (and by us I mean humanity). I am presenting evidence of problems on our planet that I have found through a lot of time of research (most don’t need me to present evidence, these stories are on the news every day). I am trying to sound a warning bell. And then I am trying to show that there are possible solutions to these problems. Solutions that are not my ideas or anything in anyway that I think I have come up with. I have instead joined a global network of people that are trying to advance an idea, a train of thought, a logical procession that shows that if we keep doing X, we will be sorry. So let’s try Y instead. So the call is for solutions, always solutions, to keep us from ultimately killing ourselves much sooner than we have to. Maybe they sound like radical solutions. Well, how could there be something that could heal our world without being radical?

And, lucky for us, right now a radical new physics is being discovered that can change our world. It’s based on the idea of spin and systems. All systems spin (like the earth, atoms, galaxies, etc). We need to learn to use that spin and apply it to not only physical phenomenon but social phenomenon. Please watch at least the first of the two videos. I found these tonight as I was writing this post. Coinkedink? I think not. It’s only 10 min and it explains things I’ve been trying to piece together since I learned about fractals. This is absolutely amazing, revelatory information everyone should hear.

This new physics tells us that we need to be thinking of all parts of the whole of the planet to heal it. We must think about healing all problems with large, over arching solution. Because we are in multiple system failure.  People rob and steal and kill each other, we are in two wars, unemployment is steadily staying high, our government cannot or refuses to compromise on anything, a billion people in the world are starving, there are civil wars all over the world, genocide, natural disasters are on the rise, weather patterns are changing and messing with animal species, the ice caps are melting at an alarming rate, our jobs are being taken over by technology (post about this topic coming shortly)…shall I go on?  We are on a precipice that many have been trying to warn us about but we ignored them. (President Carter comes to mind with his solar panels on the White House that Reagan promptly removed.)

The solutions that have so far been offered to our problems are lacking in that they only address any one or two given aspects of our system. They address just climate change, for instance. Or they just address crime. Or they just address jobs. Or they just address starving people.

The solution I want to strive for offers a solution to all of those problems. It is the resource based economy (RBE).

Maybe you think an RBE is a great idea, but you don’t think it could ever happen. How could we ever get people to agree to give up money? I know when you say it like this it sounds impossible. But you have to think of it in terms of steps, or parts, or (!) a system.

The first step is just awareness. Letting people know (like I am trying to do) that there are groups out there trying to do this. We are obviously still in that phase. Once awareness takes off and people come to this idea on their own, the idea will spread like wildfire.

There is a lot of info about transition and possible ways to do it. One idea that I particularly like is the idea of setting up new cities and infrastructure and feeding money into those as a temporary boost to the current economy. Get everyone back to work updating our cities to be 100% environmentally friendly, redesigned transportation and delivery systems and make everything look, well, futuristic. Because our technology can provide that future right now. So we boost the economy over a 10-15 year span while we rebuild for Earth. We rebuild the cities to each have a main frame computer. That main frame is connected to every other main frame in every other city and our resources are monitored electronically. Our water is always flowing, our food is always delivered (or we can go and pick it if we’d like), we always have a place to live because there will be enough homes built for all people. Jacque Fresco, industrial designer and founder of The Venus Project, has laid out plans for how to do all of this. His work is amazing and inspiring.

Buckminster Fuller said it’s not about fighting the current system. We should be building a new system that makes the old one obsolete.
